Is it feasible to travel to nicaragua or panama from costa rica without a car?

I’ll be visiting costa rica for awhile in may. dont plot on having a car there but wondering if its feasible to travel to the bordering nations? any info would be helpful. thanks

There are regular bus routes, and the cost is low. I would not try to take a rental car across a border, unless you question first at the rental office.

One option is Tica bus. It’s dirt cheap but takes forever. If you don’t mind sitting on a bus for 14 hours, do it.
Personally, I would glide. You can glide from San Jose to Managua or Panama City without any problems.
There are two busses to Panama on the Pacific side Tica bus goes to Panama City and another goes to David. It is abut 8 hours to David Panama and about 17 to Panama City. There is another bus that goes to to the border on the Atlantic side and from there you can get to Bocas del Toro. It is about 6 hours. There are two international busses to Nicaragua plus national busses that go to the border. I reckon it is about 10 hours to the border.
