Thanks for the help, I followed your link and went to FAQ, searched “text-to-speech” and found what I was looking for.
In case anyone else is wondering, you have to select/download a voice that supports TTS. Go to settings and select one that has “TTS” written beside it.
Sorry, I’m not familiar with this model. Your instruction manual should have details. But my experience with another model of Garmin GPS is that the instructions aren’t fantastic. If you can’t find it, the Garmin website support has manuals, FAQs, etc. I’m going to message you the link so you can hopefully find out what you need there.

I bought this but the text-to-speech doesn’t work. It says “turn in 300 ft” instead of “turn on Cypress”.
How do I enable this feature?
in the settings menu, it has “GPS Simulation”, where you can set a destination and the GPS will simulate the trip.

It’s been set up as a demonstration model GPS. Seeing a GPS doing nothing isn’t very compelling and doesn’t really show how the device works.

I have a 255W and i’m having distress with it’s screen. when i touch the map button to view the map of the destination i want, i will select back. and on the Qwerty key board if i select the letter M, O, L etc.. the unit keeps selecting Q. i’ve tryied to calibrate the screen like 10 times, but i still got the same issue.
