What is the best option to send luggage from Germany to Central America?
I am moving from Berlin to Guatemala and need to send personal belongings because I am flying with an airline that charges too much for extra luggage. I want to send about 50 kilos in total.

The most economical method is nearly always via the Post Office. If you do that, wait until you are about to depart so the packages arrive after you get to Guatemala. Pack the items in boxes that can be easily lifted by one person (ex. max of 20 kg per box).
The postal system is not secure in some countries and theft from the mail can be a problem (I have NO thought if that is the case in Guatemala). If security is a concern, ship the items to yourself via a service like DHL. Have the shipping company “hold” the items at their facility until you collect them in person, or have a designated person (named when you ship the items) collect them.
You should also talk to the airline and question about both the fees for extra baggage, and for “accompanied air freight”.
