I used this item in both Germany and Prague. It's decently built. The plastic extension screw does feel like it could break for the weight it has to bear, but even with daily use for two weeks it turned out to be quite sturdy. It also extended out quite far, but several times it was extended out to it's maximum and could have used an extra centimeter for stability, but the plug did stay in regardless. I charged my cellphone and camera batteries with it. I stayed away from using hairdryers, because most converters state to avoid them, but this item actually states it can handle them, but I feel it would be wiser to just get a hairdryer that has dual voltage settings and avoid the possible fire. That way I just ended up using the adaptor plugs. The multitude of plugs turned out to be very useful as I used 2 out of the four supplied. The bag is an added bonus to keep everything together. Overall I think this is a good product for travel, but only time and more varied countries will tell if it's truly good for worldwide use. Hope that helped.

Worked fine with an electric shaver and with a curling iron, but with a hair dryer the fan motor just growled and turned slowly. The prongs on the base unit wouldn't reach into a grounded 220V receptacle (which is recessed). It could be made to work by plugging the converter into one of the (included) adapter plugs, but it needed to be plugged in only part way, since the prongs on the converter are metal only at the tips. This required some careful one-handed juggling while shaving with the other hand.
