I don’t know how cheap it is, but one possibly fascinating destination in Norway could be Tromso. It is on the zone of high auroral activity.

Well as you’re flying from manchester your only direct destination is Oslo.

First thing is that small in Norway is cheap. Accommodation will be your largest issue so check out hostels. One thing to watch out for is that quite a few are seasonal and don’t operate after the middle/end August. This is especially right in the rural areas as there just isn’t a lot of demand out of season.

The next huge cost will be food. If you can self cater it might be cheaper, but that will depend on accommodation. Expect to pay around double of what you’re used to in the UK for meals. As an example a McDonald’s meal will set you back round 80Kr – £8.

I would suggest looking at a hytter or similar as an option, but at 16 places may be reluctant to rent to you.

If you want cheap, stay away from Oslo, it was for some years ago 2nd most expensive city in the worlds, I reckon it has become a small more cheaper now but…

Anyways, I reckon you want to come to Stavanger (my city).

You could stay in a cheap place like mosvangen camping.

Call them on (+47) 51532971 if you have questions. 350 – 400 NOK for one night in a cabin this price is not for each person. Or you could bring your own tent for only 110 NOK.

The fantastic thing about Mosvangen camping is that it is in a quite isolated forest but not so far away from the city.

If you like to experience some of Norways best nature I strongly recommend you too either see:

Just give me a message if you need more information.
