Make friends with a truck driver – there’s no Greyhound service from Abington to Washington.
{EDIT} One has to get from Abingdon to Wytheville – a trucker can do it but most of them go to DC anyway. /{EDIT}
You may want to check out ride sharing forums at http://www.craigslist.org or even the Ride Boards at U. of Tennessee, Radford or Virginia Tech to see if anyone is going in that direction.
Best I can tell you will have to leave by Greyhound bus from Wytheville, VA.
Everyday service at 11:25 am and 11:55 PM.
This is my help from Washington, DC U.S.A.
Try checking VRE (Virginia Railway Express- the train).
If you can get to Richmond or Culpeper, you can then take the train, although it has a somewhat limited schedule.
